Stitched up in Honduras Speaker Tour
With Labour behind the Label we bring you a tour with a trade union activist at the centre of the international Fruit of the Loom boycott. Find out how you have the power to defend human rights.
On November 7, 2008, a 36-page report documented serious violations of workers rights by the Russell Corporation, a company wholly owned by Fruit of the Loom. Over a two-year period, Russell managers carried out a campaign of retaliation and intimidation in order to stop workers at two of the company’s Honduran factories from exercising their right to organize and bargain collectively.
As the international universities boycott has become
the fastest growing and biggest garments boycott ever,
we bring Reyna Martinez to tell the story of the mistreatment, death threats and illegal firings that accompanied her attempts to unionise and get better conditions for the workers of the factory. Come to meet and speak with her and Rod from United Students Against Sweatshops at one of these November dates:

CAMPAIGN SUCCESS
The boycott has forced Fruit of the Loom to listen to the pleas of their employees, and they are now negotiating with the union in Washington DC, which they previously refused to do. Now we need to put enough pressure on to ensure the workers are re-employed and their rights publicly restored.
