How to apply

To apply for any of the positions on this page, fill out an application form and return it to volunteer@peopleandplanet.org. Also if you have any questions please get in touch.

We are still taking applications for our exciting volunteering roles. Volunteering is a massive amount of fun and will give you great work experience and the opportunity to make a real difference too.

All positions are based where you live and include support and training, plus your expenses are covered (please check each role description to confirm details).

P&P is also offering the chance for your volunteering to be formally recognised through a volunteer accreditation scheme.

Please remember that you can also get involved in the People & Planet group in your university or sixth form.

Green League 2010 Researcher

Volunteer researchers play a crucial role in compiling and analysing the information needed to produce People & Planet’s award-winning Green League - a league table of universities’ environmental performance published annually in the Times Higher Education supplement. The roles involves:

Campaign Advocate

Campaign Advocates play an integral role in the development, promotion and delivery of People & Planet’s award winning campaigns. Focussing on a particular issue, Campaign Advocates will do any or all of these roles:

Campaign advocates can alternately specialise in one part of campaigning, for example communications or media, and get more specialised training and skills this way.

Group Support Volunteer

Did you know that more than half of all of People & Planet’s campaign groups are in schools and colleges? Imagine what these budding groups could achieve with ace campaigners like you to support them! This is your chance to help set up and support a new Sixth Form People & Planet group in your area or help to make an existing group even better. Its great opportunity to build up the network and get experience working with young people.

It’s time to bring P&P into the Web 2.0 age, by making use of all the exciting creative communications tools that are out there, in particular blogs and the media of films…

Recently we set up a People & Planet grassroots blog but to make it a success, we need you to make it happen.

Would you like to become a (relatively) regular P&P blogger? The blog will provide a space for covering pretty much any topic that sparks your interest, and can be as opinionated, controversial, radical, informal as you like.

Fundraising Representative

Fundraising is vital to our campaigns and the strength of the People & Planet network. This year P&P have created a new role to support our fundraising team. As a Fundraising Rep you’ll help to promote the importance of fundraising to your group and the wider network, organise fundraising events and write news stories for the P&P website and newsletter about fundraising activities.

Diversity Volunteer

If you’re based in London or the East Midlands and want to inspire the next generation of campaigners why not get stuck into a great new role which focuses on engaging new students in further education colleges.

As a Diversity Volunteer you’ll help to find new exciting ways to get a more diverse range of students campiagning with People & Planet. This will include working with the P&P staff team to organise regional events, creating new P&P groups in your region and assisting groups in making plans to make People & Planet’s events, like Shared Planet, accessible to all.

Training for Diversity Volunteers is taking place on December 6th in London. We are very excited to welcome along to the training our special guest facilitator Shilpa Shah who has tonnes of experience working on global issues with groups from a variety of backgrounds.
