Buy Right Activism Coordinator
Students campaigning to join the Workers Rights Consortium
What does this role involve? This is an exciting opportunity to bring to life People & Planet’s Buy Right campaign. Your role as a Buy Right Activism Coordinator will be supporting the campaign across your region, communicating its goals and building the anti-sweatshop movement in your region. You could do workshops at regional events, organise peer to peer Skype calls for your region to catch up with the amazing actions and tactics that local groups are doing, and help your region to win the campaign by staying focussed.
Whatever your skills, you’ll help us campaign for universities to support workers rights and Fairtrade, and campaign on campus in solidarity with sweatshop workers in your university supply chains.
Key tasks will include:
- Using your strategic skills to plan an amazing Buy Right campaign in your region with other groups
- Communicating the latest campaign news & using social networking tools like Facebook and Twitter to promote news stories
- Promoting awareness of sweatshop issues and building our movement in your region
- Organising peer to peer Skype calls for your region to catch up with the amazing actions and tactics that local groups are doing
- Keeping your support buddy up-to-date at the Skype calls

What is required of you?
- A commitment to work around 3 hours every week on the role
- You must have access to a computer, internet and a phone
- Experience of one year campaigning in the People & Planet network or equivalent experience
- A commitment to Skype calls every fortnight with a few other Buy Right activists at universities near you and your support buddy
- A commitment to come to a training event either on 5 June, 27 June, or a TBC date in September
