Social Media & Communications Champion
People & Planet social media volunteer gets down to some blogging!
What does this opportunity involve? As a Social Media and Communications Champion you will use Facebook, Twitter, blogging and other social networking tools to help People and Planet bring our campaigns on poverty, human rights and the environment to life.
You’ll also be a dab-hand at creative writing and will help to capture people’s attention and highlight campaign issues through writing stories for the website and for the national newsletter. And for those of you who like a bit of gossip, this will include shouting about the latest events, activities and news.
Key tasks will include:
- Writing articles for our supporter newsletter and freshers magazine ‘The Activist’
- Writing regular stories for the website and blog
- Using Facebook and Twitter to promote our campaigns on human rights, the environment and poverty
- Finding fun, engaging and pro-active ways to use social media
Skills you’ll gain:
- Effective and strategic campaign communications
- Experience of writing for different sorts of media (on-line and off-line)
- Experience of effective promotions
- Using the web as a communication tool
- Planning, organisation and prioritisation
Training you’ll get:
- Using social media for campaigning
- How to write well for on-line and for print publications
- People & Planet campaigns
- Planning and prioritisation
You’ll love this role if you have the following skills:
- Great communications skills
- A good understanding of social networking tools like Facebook and Twitter
- Like keeping up-to-date with and sharing the latest gossip & news
- Enjoy writing stories and articles
- Enjoy encouraging others to get involved in things
What is required of you?
- A commitment to work around 2 hours every week
- You must have access to a computer, internet and phone
- You must touch base with your support buddy at least once a month
