When Amani started volunteering for People & Planet she didn’t know much about climate change or human rights, now she writes articles and talks to journalists about the issues.

“Volunteering for People & Planet is exciting and fun. You call journalists and say “Have I got a juicy story for you!”. Then you have got less than 3 minutes to convince the local or national press that your story is worth publishing.”

“I think the best thing I’ve gained from this experience is that I am more confident in writing about my own views. When communicating your message, you have to make sure that it’s clear, accessible to a wide audience and grabs the attention of local and national media. When your work is broadcast or published, that feeling of success is priceless.”

“Volunteering is for anyone who not only wants to make a difference in this society but also to have an experience that’s challenging. This journey has opened my eyes to a whole new world. I don’t know where I will be in the future, but this experience has made me feel that I can do anything as long as I try.”
