Matt McMullen

Matt first got involved in People & Planet when he set up an action group in his college. He enjoyed it so much that he became a volunteer in his gap year before starting University.

“As a People & Planet trainer I supported People & Planet sixth form and college groups in my local area to take action on Fairtrade. This was a fantastic and varied role which involved facilitating meetings, offering advice, supporting the group to plan their action and providing resources.”

“I learnt a great deal and will take a lot away from the role. The mix of youth work and activism has meant I have gained skills in planning, time management, written communication and public speaking just to name a few.”

“People & Planet is a great organisation and have provided fantastic support throughout my role and helped boost my CV. But my time with the organisation didn’t end there. Not only did I become an active member of the People & Planet group at my university, I was also elected on to the People & Planet Management Committee as a schools and colleges representative.”
