Regional coordinators

People & Planet couldn’t run without our extensive network of volunteers and organisers. Each year, we recruit a team to organise in their region. This year we are also recruiting Regional Coordinators to support the Regional Organisers and do outreach workshops and freshers' support, especially over the Freshers' period (September-October).

Our Approach

People & Planet’s methods are deeply participatory. We have a commitment to organising for collective liberation, and believe that democracy and autonomy are crucial to enabling this. We equip our Regional Coordinators with the skills to create accessible events and lead workshops with activities which might range from role plays and group challenges, to small group discussions and movement. These processes create spaces for us to connect our lives to structural problems, and enable us to be the change we want in the world.

Being a People & Planet Regional Coordinator is a great opportunity to further improve your events, teamwork, volunteer support and campaigning skills that will equip you for future opportunities. The skills you learn as a Regional Coordinator can be used for future campaigns, jobs and other voluntary positions.

What does being a Regional Coordinator involve?

You will apply your experience as a People & Planet Regional Organiser (RO) to support the next cohort of ROs in their roles. This will include contributing to the ongoing training and development of ROs during and beyond Regional Organisers’ Training, and supporting ROs to organise a Regional Event. You will also deliver outreach to groups during the first semester (September to December) such as supporting groups at Freshers’ Fairs and delivering campaigns and skills workshops.

What support will I get as a Regional Coordinator?

You'll attend the training course in August where you will learn how to facilitate workshops, how to run events and about our campaigns. Through out the year we will give you ongoing mentoring and support, supporting from the staff team, such as debriefs after workshop delivery, logistical support at regional events, and more.

Who can be a Regional Coordinator?

Anyone who has been a People & Planet Regional Organiser for at least one year previously.

How can I apply?

Applications are open until midnight on 22nd April 2018.
