What's the month of action?
Throughout October 2025, fossil fuel companies will be attending careers fairs across the UK, using our universities as recruiting grounds for their destructive and exploitative industries. We’re building a movement of students across the UK taking action to kick fossil fuel recruiters off campus and demand an end to fossil fuel industry recruitment at our universities. This means a wave of creative stunts, disruptive actions, banner drops and more as we take a stand against the industries exploiting both people and planet for profit.
Whether you’re new to the campaign or looking to get more involved, join our upcoming webinar to find out more!
What's the Fossil Free Careers Campaign?
The Fossil Free Careers Campaign is a student-led campaign calling on UK University careers services to end recruitment pipelines into the oil, gas, and mining industries.
The fossil fuel and mining industries are complicit in some of the biggest human rights and environmental violations of our times. From driving climate breakdown to fuelling militarisation and conflict; from polluting food and water supplies to violently displacing indigenous communities, these industries profit off destroying people’s lives and the planet we depend on.
Yet in spite of all this, universities are actively promoting careers in these industries to their students. They invite fossil fuel companies to attend careers fairs, advertise their vacancies to students, and enter into lucrative careers partnerships with them. In doing this, they give some of the world’s most destructive companies free advertising space and plentiful opportunities to greenwash their image.
But students are demanding change. We're calling on UK universities to cut fossil fuel and mining companies out of all careers and recruitment activities. These companies have no place on our campuses, nor anwhere.
